History of Acrylics Eyes vs. Glass Eyes
Historically, artificial eyes with Glass eyes are still made today. They are primarily made in Germany.
The finest glass eyes today are made in Germany by skilled craftsmen who can manufacture a prosthetic eye in mere hours. However, glass eyes are limited in the sense that they cannot be impression fit. Acrylic eyes, on the other hand, can be impression (custom) fit precisely to a person’s anatomy, incorporating the slightest details as dictated by the patient’s socket.
