What is a prosthesis? Some people of prostheses as only being arms or legs. However, a prosthesis is actually any device that replaces a missing body part.

In ocularistry, a prosthesis can be anything from a prosthetic eye, to a lid prosthesis, to an exenteration prosthesis (this replaces the entire upper lid, lower lid and the eyeball).
